I had found a special bond and solace in the natural world as early as a nine-year-old, lonely child. Since then, I have continued to discover my serenity, joy, and meaning nowhere else but in the enduring honesty of nature.
Effortless poise of the age-old mountain peaks, joyful enthusiasm of wildflowers swinging carefree in the wind, patient wisdom of the unshakable rocks, self-contented, prayerful peace of the trees – doesn’t everything in nature have its special, subtle, and discerning message for us?
Whenever I can, I make eager attempts to have a word with this wilderness – to decipher its speechless expressions, to make at least some meaning of the holy silence it never breaks.
“The foregoing generations beheld God and Nature face-to-face; we, through their eyes. Why should not we also enjoy an original relation to the universe?” Ralph Waldo Emerson asked while calling for a personal connection with the world around us, in his 1836 book, Nature.
I believe that nature poetry is my means of discovering that original relation, and then, digging deeper.

This collection of 32 wholehearted poems and delightful illustrations celebrates the sublime nature in America with utter awe and joy while telling stories about some serendipitous and soulful encounters I had with its various wondrous forms and places.
